Our Ocean

It's garbage day

What a relief

Bags filled with plastic,

It's time for them to leave

But where will they go?

Now that's a mystery

Let's look together

I know my history.

Into the ocean

Our plastic goes

It's okay,

Only as long as no one else knows.

But the animals beneath us

Scream and shout

“Who will it be this time?”

We will wait and find out.

Our soda can rings

Around their necks

As the animals below us

Take one last breath.

The billions of waste

Now in the ocean

Us humans

We sit on top

Forgetting what's in our oceans.

“Forgetting?”

One might say

Or are we just not caring?

Mamma always said

“Sharing is caring.”

We share our planet

With nature around us,

But what about the orcas and dolphins

That swim all around us?

Let's care for the animals

That live in the ocean,

And care for our planet

Let's show some devotion.

It's not fair to dump our plastic

Out in the sea

Let's change our planet

It will be nicer for you and me.

Let's clean up our earth

We’ll make it fantastic,

So do your part

And say no to plastic.

  1. This is amazing. I think you capture all aspects of how our society today is caring less and less about the nature and oceans around us. The ongoing problem with pollution in our waters has been going on for so long yet nothing has changed. I think this captures everything there is that needs to be said and how to put yourself in the shoes of an animal who cannot control the things we humans put around them.
