THE DEER

 THE DEER

Here is a story on when my family and me ran over a deer.

It was a cold night when the accident happened. The moon was glistening and the stars were shining bright. The trees were dimly lit by the car's headlamps. The car was silent as we traveled alone on the road. The radio was playing some very soft music. Then, it happened. I saw movement on the right side of the car and then everything went slow. There was a large object flying towards the car. It came at us running and jumped into the side car. My mom screamed while trying to slow the car down, but it didn't work. I knew that the deer had died on impact because of the speed that we and him were going. The deer had split into many different parts, most of them had flown over the car and into the other side of traffic. There was nothing that we could do, that car was old and didn't have the best brakes. Through this whole thing, I didn’t notice that there was a car behind us. It had swerved into the other side of the road because we had to stop. The car went right over the other parts of the deer which had made the car bounce. I was so shocked that I didn't know how to react. I just witnessed a life vanish of an innocent creature. I felt that somehow this was my fault. I know that it wasn’t but whatever. The car had stopped and everybody in the car was silent. My mom eventually got up to check on the car. I think I remember the awful stench that had risen into the car when my mom opened the door.

But in all, I just want to say that you should always be careful when driving at night. Always have your headlights on and don't try to impress your friends. You could just end up killing something that didn’t deserve it.
