Why I Think People are so addicted to video games

The reason I am writing about this is because I have personal experience with addiction and I’m sure that’s why you decided to read this. It's because you are currently or recently dealing with this addiction. A video game addiction.

Now you may or may not have similar questions as I have like why can’t I quit or if I do why do I have a feeling of loss. Well most likely you can’t click that wipe button because if you are like me you’ve played that game a lot and you have a lot of cool things you can’t get again right off the bat when you start over. That’s really what holds us back(or at least that's my problem), it’s the experience and knowing that all that time would go to waste. Also, I’m sure you can relate to the feeling of defeat or loss when you click that wipe button. Then you also have all those excuses that even though you want to rage quit, you say to yourself some like “The next match will be better” or “That loss was because of my teammates” or “That wasn’t fair, I was up tiered”(up tier means you are the lowest level, or you had the weakest stuff). That’s what gets us.

That’s what I think is why we get addicted to games, is that we focus on the good times and learn from the bad. We all just know that it was just some random coding that puts us into that game, and that we’ll eventually have that luck reversed and have that one game where we can have it all down tier.

  1. Well, Video Games are not really an addiction. It's a source of entertainment. People can spend hundreds of dollars on ENTERTAINMENT! It may be hard to get off, but that is because we are having FUN, its not an addiction.
